Attorney General-Elect Derek Brown Announces Transition Team

Transition team of 40+ volunteers will include a series of public town hall meetings

SALT LAKE CITY (Nov. 7, 2024)—Attorney General-elect Derek Brown announced a team to lead his transition during the next 60 days until inauguration. The team, comprising more than 40 well-known attorneys, experts, and advocates, will be chaired by outgoing State Auditor John Dougall, former Utah Solicitor General Tyler Green, and well-known Utah attorney Greg Skordas, who ran for Utah Attorney General in 2020. Their collective background in state government, law enforcement, and constitutional law will be invaluable during this transition period.

“I want to thank John, Tyler, Greg, and the rest of our team for their willingness to lend their deep knowledge of state government, law enforcement, and constitutional law during this transition period,” said Attorney General-elect Derek Brown. “Each has been chosen because of their expertise, commitment to the State of Utah, and commitment to strengthening and supporting the hardworking individuals who serve Utah in the Attorney General’s Office. We will work just as hard as we campaigned to ensure we hit the ground running in January 2025.”

The transition team will complete a top-to-bottom review of the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) budget, policies, management, and operations. The team will make recommendations to support the implementation of AG-elect Brown’s vision and priorities, including defending state sovereignty, ensuring the safety of Utah children and families, and elevating the AGO’s ability to execute its mission. The AGO employs nearly 600 attorneys, staff, and investigators, providing legal counsel to state agencies, defending state law against challenges, and overseeing appeals.
